What do people think about the Atkins Diet?

There are a lot of debates, but Atkins Diet is generally more accepted medically in recent years. However, personally I strongly believe that balanced diet is the best diet. If I were 300 lbs and needed to lose weight so desperately, I would consider various options including Atkins Diet, but I would still not see it as a healthy diet. |

Personally, I don't think it's healthy at all. It might help you lose weight, but I think a diet should be about more than that. Aaron It works and that's all I cared about when I did it and lost 60 lbs. I think you have to weigh the options... carrying 60 lbs around isn't so healthy either. You can use the diet to get the initial weight off and then adjust your diet accordingly so that it's not all no-carb, but a fine mix of both that allow you to maintain your desired weight. |

I once read that you need to keep applying Atkins Diet somewhere, even after you lose weight, but apparently, that is not the case.

If you have two options, carrying a lot of weight and eating unhealthy for a short period of time to lose weight, the latter seems to be a more reasonable choice. |

I've since adjusted myself from the carb-nazi I was to someone that's paying attention to the carbs, but not even remotely close to the way I was in the beginning.

So, essentially, weight control is changing your habit in a long term, then? Am I understanding correctly? |

The key isn't just to do a diet.. it's a lifestyle change that you need to do in order to keep it off. I think that's why most people when they lose weight they have such a hard time keeping it off. It's really easy to fall back into bad eating habbits. |

The girlfriend and I just decided that we're going to try this new system in town for losing weight. (probably not NEW... but it's someone who started a NEW business).

I will! It's worth a shot because both of us have seen a few people who have gone through the program lose A LOT of weight. I think it will be worth the $140 a month. |

The Atkins diet is an incredibly unhealthy diet, I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Not giving your body the fuel it needs to operate is dangerous. |
