Post subject: Miracle foods from the Bible
THREE THOUSAND years ago, the scriptures described how certain foods performed miracle cures. Hundreds of ancient natural remedies for hundreds of ailments are available.
Headaches/palpitations/cataracts
This plant, which sheltered the Virgin Mary in her flight to Egypt, contains six chemicals that protect your vision.
Romero, the Pilgrims Flower, is now known as rosemary. A member of the mint family, it, together with lemon balm, is associated with long life. Drinking rosemary tea can help fight cataract. Add ½ ounce of rosemary to one pint of boiled water. Allow to steep for 10 minutes. Strain and drink. The drink is also great for headaches and migraine.
Rosemary wine calms the heart and eases edema of the limbs. It can be added to white wine and left for four days. A small glass between meals should give relief.
For failing memory, rosemary tea is also supposed to be good. It also helps relax stiff joints and body.
Rosemary bath
Boil in 1-3/4 pint of water a handful of rosemary petals. Mix with your bath water. This is a mixture soak. Rosemary can awaken the senses.
Headaches/gallstones/ toothaches
One of the better known bitter herbs of the Last Supper has an oil that can give relief to tension headache in 15 minutes simply by wiping it on your forehead.
Peppermint oil is a fast-acting aspirin with no side effects. It is good for headaches and tennitis (ringing in the ear). As an anesthetic and antiseptic, emergency relief can be had with just a few drops to the tooth or gum.
Menthol dissolves gallstones. It is known to reduce bile cholesterol and increase bile acids.
Natural Viagra/levitra/cialis
The Book of Daniel mentions a food that reportedly promotes better sexual performance for men while also treating Parkinson’s disease.
Beans were Jacob’s regular fare. “Feed me with that red pottage for I am faint. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and a pottage of lentils.” Genesis 25:30-34
It contains plant estrogens that can reduce cholesterol by 19 percent due to its fiber and lecithin content (The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, October 1983).
Fava beans are the best sources of L-Dopa, the drug used to control trembling in Parkinson’s disease. It also stimulates strong, healthy erections in men. It is said 8-16 ounces of fava beans may be enough to give relief to male potency problems. Note that fava bean sprouts contain ten times the L-Dopa found in the bean.

I don't know about that, but I can tell you that it goes very well with lamb.
Why is it that certain foods go well together and others just don't?
Beef and horseradish...
Pork and apple sauce...
Lamb and rosemary (or mint)...

Many foods have certain smell, and other foods can neutralize. That's one reason. Many foods may have some alkaline; other foods that have high acidity can neutralize. That's another reason. I think it's about creating a nice balance.

Apple sauce? I'm not a big fan of sauces made from fruits like apple sauce, cranberry sauce, etc. I'd use ginger, salt, pepper, soy sauce and (maybe) white wine to prepare pork.

I agree, about rosemary going well with lamb. I also think that experimenting is the key of cooking, and you can often find that everything does go well together, when you put it together the right way.
