Unless I've missed it, we don't have a discussion about the recent face transplant on here.

I think there's a lot of different issues we could discuss here. What are you thoughts on it?

Do you think this might oneday enter mainstream plastic surgery? I mean, people might no longer be ordering those collagen lips, facelifts, etc off the menu, but perhaps one day could be simply just choosing completely new faces out of catalogues of dead people?

Not mainstream, but I do believe that some people will use the technique to enhance the look of their face. It's no science fiction. It's just a matter of time.

Perhaps enough to one day see people becoming not just organ-donors but face-donors?

That's an interesting question. Intuition tells us that organ donation will serve those who are in need in most cases, but it's not so sure if face donation will serve who are actually in need.

Probably not too many, save for accidents, as far as those who really need it.
What about facial deformities? I wonder if this technique might be employed more there?

This is a medical question, and since I'm neither medical doctor nor surgeon, I cannot answer.

Yeah, from what I hear, she got M.D. from a very prestigious medical school.
