The next time you want to scream at your spouse for not keeping the shoes where they belong, think of the kids first. For, two studies published in the journal Child Development have shown that children suffer from emotional difficulties and lack of sleep even if their parents are involved in a small fight.

Definitely. I think parents tend to forget they even have kids when an argument erupts! But who can blame them? They don't get taught how to be good parents anywhere! And I find this really strange. It's probably the most important function a person can perform, and there's just no need seen to introduce parenting as a subject at school. Perhaps if there was a parenting class, teenagers would be less inclined to fall pregnant, having been better equipped with this information!

What do you think of this?

This is partly a result of wealth created in the modern society. Family members including grandparents, grand-grandparents, and sometime even relatives lived under the same roof in the past. If not, they lived in a close proximity. Subsequently, they learned about parenting and what not in the close environment. This is no longer the case today partly because all small family units can afford to have a house and live independently geographically.

I have had the good fortune of meeting a family with five generations under one roof!

It was quite amazing to see, actually. Most families nowadays seem so splintered, even spread out accross the world!
