What's your take on correlation between health and your family situation?

I think it's healthy to have family around.

I can think of a few reasons:

1) My kids, when they're a bit older, are going to keep me on the run-about, playing football... I imagine

2) Having family around is good for personal well-being and mental health, I think.

I often hear people saying "Oh, I'm not doing well because I did not have a good family. My father was abusive. My mother was sleeping around, etc. etc." If you were raised like this, you must react proactively; otherwise, you're destined to fail. You cannot make excuses like this. That said ...

Having emotionally healthy and intelligent family creates a very strong foundation for children.

I think that what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. So I definitely agree that making excuses is the wrong way of approaching undesirable situations.
