Post subject: British schools ban junk food

It is about bloody time. I only wish that the school system here in Nova Scotia would do the same, and quick.

I don't think that it was as big of an issue in the past, when I was growing up all I did after school was play outside, run, bike, etc. Also when I got older I played multiple sports.

However now, and even when my younger brother was growing up all kids do is play video games, it might sound like I am getting old, but why else would the kids now be getting fat, when I ate the same when I was growing up

I'm not too crazy about state's intervention, but in this particular case, the action really matters and the result really matters. Becoming unhealthy (semi-permanently) as a result of bad diet is bad enough, but it is also believed that bad diet in schools can also affect children's learning ability severely. Schools can't have so much junk food.

I also don't agree with state intervention IN ADULT LIFE... but kids do need a lot of structure, and that means rules! Especially now when discipline is all but illegal.

Of course, considering that, I'm interested in seeing just how they intend to enforce this. I can just see those kids chomping away & telling teachers to go #$%$^%^ themselves!
