I don't really like exercising a lot.. if it weren't for walking my dog I'd probably never leave the couch. Now I was wondering how many hours a day a person should walk.. I've heard somebody say that it's healthy to walk for about 30 minutes to and hour a day. Is this right or should it be more?

I love walking! Have you thought of finding some nearby trails or walks in the mountains?

My favourite is to do a two-day hike, with a sleepover in a cabin in the mountains - I've never ever had a better night's sleep! Wink

Yeah, that sounds pretty reasonable. If you walk for an hour or so a day, I'd risk saying that you can stay pretty healthy; that's probably a sufficient amount of exercise.

The surgeon General recommends about 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity, so a bit of speed walking may be a good start Smile.

I'd say 30 mins of cardio minimum and watch your calorie intake, because you won't burn much with just 30 mins.

30 minutes of waling may not be so much, but absolutely better than nothing!
you should also consider how fast you're walking or maybe increasing the time day by day
