I would say that it is healthy. However if you have stomach problems it would be harmful to your health. For example it can cause serious heart burn.

As for being healthy it promotes your metabolism so therefore you burn more fat. And it has the added benefit of clearing your sinus when you have a cold Wink

Huh ... really? So, is it possible that it can prevent you from being over weight? For example, if you eat Indian and Southeast Asian cuisines regularly (like curry), you can maintain your weight easily and healthily?

Cayenne pepper has been known to have some medicinal purposes. I do not have the details in my memory at this moment, but I've read about it in some herbal book.

Some good spicey soup is definately good for loosening phlegm (sp?) and acting as an expectorant. As an added bonus, the warm steam from the soup helps to alleviate your sinus pain.

I would imagine spices are good for helping 'cleanse' you. A hot curry can presumably help in cleaning the pores in your skin... (I'm assuming).

Well, if you're not used to it and if you take too much spice, you get "Delhi Belly". By the way, "Delhi Belly" is a word invented by British (right?).

I think spicy food can be healthy but not if eaten in huge amounts, specially if you're not used to it

regarding the fact of spicy food helping you stay in shape I think it's not true...I mean, you can't eat more and more spicy food and hope you'll lose weight

moreover, specially if you're not used, excessively spicy food can cause inflammation in your mouth

I heard spicy foods are good for the circulatory system but I might be wrong

it is all relative. If you overeat anything it is not healthy - including healthy food, lol. But ultimately there is nothing unhealthy about spicy or bland food, if eaten in a healthy moderation.
