I take it you want to put on weight/body mass healthily, is that right?

Definitely have to eat loads, as TV suggested. I've eaten a lot to try pick up a little, but my body's just so determined to stay the same weight. I'm not complaining, since I'm quite happy with my physique, but I did want another 8lbs or so years ago. I think they'll come naturally in a few years time though... Laughing

i wasn't refering to supplements or canned proteins. lol. that's not what I was trying to accomplish. I don't want my veins to explode on my muscles from the workout. I just need to gain a few kilos (preferably 4-5) and build a muscle mass (but not trying to go weight lifting!!!). and I was trying to accomplish this in a healthy way.

More pasta/carbohydrate in your diet might help... Question

Hey Wekky,

I am getting you very well, You should take supplements that have been demonstrated to be safe, both in quantity and quality. Some vitamins are essential in small quantities but dangerous in large quantities, notably Vitamin A. I take my supplements from bayho.com.

In a nutshell, gaining weight is as simple as creating a calorie surplus, ie by eating more than your body is consuming in its daily activities.

Like all things, however, it's not that simple. I assume you don't just want to gain a bunch of fat, that's useless weight. Gaining "weight" is not necessarily a good thing unless you are dangerously underweight or the weight you are gaining is muscle mass.

Gaining muscle mass requires that you maintain a calorie surplus, but you want your calories to be coming from quality lean protein and complex starchy and fibrous carbohydrates. You also need to adopt a fairly through exercise routine.

Your calorie maintenance level is a combination of your basal metabolic rate and your activity level. Maintenance for most men is around ~2700 calories. It depends on genetics, age, fitness, and activity level though. I eat just over 4000 calories just to maintain weight, across roughly 5 meals per day.

Something like drinking banana milk shake helps you to gain weight pretty fast. Drink that instead of whatever you drink regularly.

meal replacement and supplementation, with controlled amounts of protein, carbs, etc is how you gain. You have to add calories to your diet, while exercising and building muscle to gain.

This is not rocket science. The only specific foods that will help you gain weight "faster" are foods that have more calories than you've eaten before.

More calories consumed than burned will make you gain weight. To gain muscle, you need to include physical activity into such a program.

It should also be known that there is a large difference in training for strength and training for size.
