Post subject: Crime and mental health
Do you think mental health reasons should be allowed as a viable defence for serious crime?

That's a tough question. All I can say is that it's case by case. I do believe that some serious mental health problem can cause one to commit a violent crime and I do believe that it should be used to defend him/her as they are prosecuted. However, I also believe that the defense method is abused in some cases.

Hello,
I too agree with Ruler of this forum,
Some people however must deal with symptoms including, violent outbursts, mood swings, panic attacks, hallucinations, delusions, illusions, and so forth. It was not enough that the world is troublesome that these individuals had to be struck with an unforeseen force that controls their lives every single day, making it even more difficult than the average to survive.

I am of the opinion that the "mental health" of a person is quite connected to their environment. Seems to me that each generation inherits all our inherited and innovated problems, and hardly enough education in life skills for people to learn how to adequately cope with every situation.
Well, at least with current education, people will at least know the name, height and material of the mountain they might one day end up jumping off!

I've been watching video lectures and documentaries on one of conspiracy theories, and these video lectures and documentaries discuss how today's education system is designed. These video lectures and documentaries essentially argue that today's education system is not designed to make people smart, strong or intelligent. Pretty interesting.

The fastest way to lose control of a nation is to have smart, intelligent and independent people who think for themselves.
A regular diet of propaganda is prescribed to all from the moment the child can first gaze into a television!

I have to agree with you there to a large extent. TV is fundamentally not designed to make you think. TV is designed to feed you data, and it moves data one way and one way only. There is no communication.

True, unless you happen to be my old man, that is. After TV started mutating into the modern feed-your-brain-junk-box it is today, the feedback the TV got from my old man increased, as did the intensity of the swearing until he just gave up and got rid of the damn thing once and for all! He's much happier now that the TV's gone.
I think the older folk see things a certain way. Not even a gun to their heads can change it.
