Post subject: Are all counseling conventional medicine?
I have this perception that counseling is a part of western medicine, but is it? I also have another question. Are all counseling conventional medicine or some are considered alternative medicine?

Seems to be. Suppose it comes down to just how you define councelling.

The original 'counselling' came from your friendly local priest
I don't think it's considered as alternative - counselling is offered for everything from victim support to bereavement.

That's true. I suppose that chatting with your friend can be considered "counseling", but official "counseling" is something like chatting with your friendly neighbor enlightened priest.

Yeah, it's becoming like lawyer's consultation. Commercialization of healthcare. Terrible thing ... *** sigh ***

depends on what kind of counselor you see and what kind of approach they take. But western medicine seems to try to mask symptoms with meds rather than deal with the problem, most counsellors guide you to actually fix the problems without meds.
