I didn't exactly make any new year's resolution, but I walk about 1 hour everyday recently. Is it sufficient amount of exercise or I need to do more?

Me!! Very Happy

I do an hour's yoga every morning now, and I've acquired one of those pressure thingies that you press in & out with your hands to strengthen the arm muscles!

Cool

Did you start doing that on Jan 1st? If so, it's been 6 days; that's not bad (really).

A couple of questions:

Q1. Do you play music when you do Yoga?

Q2. If so, is there any particular type of music that you listen to?

Q3. How did you learn about Yoga, books, video, internet or some class offered at a gym or some place?

I often hear that exercise first thing in the morning is a great way to start the day (and plan to get back into the 6am swim sessions from Monday). How's it going for you Thais? Are you feeling more energised?

When I was at my peak I'd do 5 of those a week, doing between 15-20,000 metres a week + 3 gym sessions. It sounds alot but Olympic swimmers probably do well over 50km a week in the pool. Amazing athletes that don't get anywhere near the respect they deserve.

I have no way to know what it's like, but I know the number now at least ...

No wonder they start crying when they get a medal ... (or even when they don't get any medal)

And its not just the distance they go, its the speed they swim the distance at. Quite phenomenal. You are considered a reasonable swimmer if you can do 100m freestyle in under 1 minute. I read a few years ago that James Hickman (Brits might know him) would do a few thousand metres of butterfly kick (no arms, just kick) with a 100m split of under 1 minute. Quite something.

Funny old world when footballers (both gridiron and soccer), basketball players, baseball players etc. get enormous salaries whereas guys like swimmers, cyclists, gymnasts and other amazing athletes get very little reward for their efforts.

Well, maybe that's why guys and gals like swimmers, cyclists, gymnasts and other amazing athletes are so special.

Anyhow, so what are pros and cons of swimming as an exercise, since we are talking bout swimming here.

Two new threads:

What are pros and cons of swimming as an exercise?
What are pros and cons of Yoda as an exercise?

Since we are talking about many different exercise and training methods, I thought it better to create these new threads.
