Post subject: Is bad mental health worse than bad physical health?
Is bad mental health worse than bad physical health? Of course, this isn't an easy question to answer as it will depend on the exact condition and the severity of it, but do you think it's fair to say that poor mental health can be particularly debilitating (sp?) and perhaps more so than many people realise? Broken bones mend, but mental disorders can cripple people for many, many years...

Well, like you said, it really depends on the condition. Broken bones mend, but so can episodes of certain mental disorders. Some so called physical illnesses are for life, unfortunately...
Actually, IMO, there is no clear and cut line between mental and physical disease. So called "mental" disorders have their roots in physiological problems. And some clearly "physical" disorders can effect the mind as well.

My wild guess is that we have not been treating mental illness for a long time. Drugs for mental illnesses were introduced pretty recently. Counseling and psycho therapies for patients with mental illness were also introduced fairly recently. Consequently, many patients with mental illness have not been treated appropriately; this makes mental illness still unknown to us and that is a danger.

Yes, i would have to say bad mental health is worse then bad physical health, because your mental health does affect your physical health, both then would be out of sync instead of one.
