Sorry, I haven't updated this for ages... I kept training a little longer but was kind of knocked sideways because I felt a little run down (forgive the pun). Then, when I got running again, I had ankle trouble after a long run. It was just like the ankle pain I got on my last two marathons, and I have reluctantly made the decision not to take part in the Toronto Marathon afterall. I shall still be doing a half marathon later this month, but I haven't done so much training for that now...

The half marathon was last Sunday. For those in the UK, you will probably have heard of it... it was the Great North Run. I didn't manage to train any more for it, due to a variety of reasons... and this, coupled with the conditions (hot for the time of year), made it very difficult for me. At around 9 miles, I got cramp in both legs and struggled/hobbled to the finish. It was the 7th time I've entered (and completed) the run, but the slowest time by far.

Do runners in the UK generally know enough about hydration? Both overhydration and dehydration are quite a problem. Hard to imagine somebody dying from running! Perhaps they had some underlying problem? |

Many of these people had taken part in previous Great North Runs... I'm not really sure about all the details, though.
