A Florida surgeon will serve a one-month suspension and pay a fine for operating on the wrong body part - for the third time in five years! Shocked

sick...you would think you'd be able to put your trust in a doctor when you're having surgery performed on you Rolling Eyes

I remember hearing once about a surgeon who removed a patients foot - only to find out later that it was the wrong foot Shocked

The state of Florida has a couple of problems. Any M.D. in Florida can operate, i.e., they really do not need to be a surgeon to operate. Many operations can be done cheaply in Florida for this reason, but this obviously increases the risk.

Thanks for the heads-up (rather than off, obviously) - I'll remember to get surgery elsewhere!!! Rolling Eyes

Like everything else, you want to shop around and you want to pick a good doctor. The thing is that you can't really get too many surgeries to try out number of doctors though.

There are a couple of important people to know in life. Doctor, lawyer and accountant. See, the thing is that it's not that difficult to try out a couple of different lawyers and accountants. Sure, it costs some money, but it's only money. When it comes to selecting a good doctor, it doesn't work out like that.

Exactly! I was recently horrified by a tv ad that ended something like "Isn't it good to know there's a product that will cure you even before you get sick?"

I can't believe they're now actually encouraging people to take medication while there's nothing wrong with them! Mad

I have not seen any related document yet, but I was listening to some well-known author's speech the other day, and he was claiming that pharmaceuticals were selling terrible products 100 years ago (in US). So, selling bad products didn't seem like it started last year or 10 years ago.

Makes me wonder what they'll have to say about it in 100 years from now! Wink
