should we drink gatorade or other integrators after exercising?
what do they exactly do?
do we really need to reintegrate what we lose?
I don't use any of them, neither I did when I played basket

they are mainly a way to replenish the electrolytes in your body that are burned during intense exercise. there are some positives about drinking it, but if just drinking it to drink a liquid you have to remember that this drink has calories and is like drinking a high sugar and calorie drink, so dont forget the calories you consume drinking this.

indeed I drink water, after running, after working out and sometimes while I'm exercising

so there isn't a general rule to know if we should drink them...are they more indicated after lifting weights or after cardio activity?

well that is mainly what they are for - to replace the things your body sweats out or burns during exercise.

When I was seriously into running, I used to use a UK equivalent of gatorade. Now though, I don't tend to have them too much... I think they are good for quickly getting fluid into your body (isotonic?), but I'm not sure they're that healthy overall.

Yes, but I think the difference with products like Gatorade compared to water is that they absorb into your body and re-hyrdate it more quickly... at least, that's what their marketing hype tends to claim.

From what I have heard ,a good rule of thumb is only drink sports drinks when you exercise for an hour or more. When I do exercise that much I personally drink it and I feel it helps a ton, really refreshes me.

it is like anything else. the sports drinks are high in sugar (most of them). if not working out, why have the empty pointless calories...

I think that's probably not bad advice, but then again who am I to say/know. You probably can't go too far wrong if you stick to water - it just might not get into your system quite so rapidly.

It's also known to make you fat, due to its high sugar and calorie drink. Water is also good. If you plan to drink sports drinks, make sure to work out harder and burn it off if you plan to lose weight.

woah! i think i just found my gain-weight diet. i'll exercise a little (15-20 minutes) and have that drink. So muscles + calories = gain weight. cool Smile

uhhh, can anyone tell me if this would be healthy?

Gatorade is useful under the right circumstances, but the problem is that people drink it like water. The amount of electrolytes the average person loses during an average type workout rarely necessitates immediate replacement, especially by a drink loaded with simple carbohydrates and high fructose corn syrup.

Most people are walking around dehydrated to begin with.

people always forget that gaterade has calories and you can gain weight just drinking it normally. it should be used as an electrolyte replacement.
