Nose Surgery or rhinoplasty is a procedure that changes the size and shape of the nose, either by increasing or decreasing the bridge, changing the angle, narrowing the nostrils or reshaping the tip, it is often referred to as a ‘nose job'. Most people chose nose plastic surgery simply to change the shape of their nose; some people may choose nose surgery after a facial injury or to help relieve nasal obstructions. Nose plastic surgery can also help change unwanted characteristics of your nose. Although most surgeons prefer to not operate on younger patients until they have completed their growth spurts. A person's social and emotional adjustment is also taken into consideration.

During your consultation, you and your surgeon will discuss how you would like your nose to look following the ‘nose job' or rhinoplasty. Your surgeon will thoroughly assess your nose and facial structure and discuss your options, given the description of your desired nose. Your surgeon should also discuss the range of plastic surgery nose procedures available, the expected outcome, risks and costs involved and answer any questions you may have. Some insurance companies will pay for the surgery if it is done to correct a nasal obstruction.
Most of the plastic surgery nose procedures are performed usually on an outpatient basis and take an hour or two depending on the extent of the correction and the procedure. The nose surgery is usually performed under a local or general anesthetic. And although you may be mobile immediately following your nose plastic surgery, you may want to arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and to help you around for a day or two.

After a plastic surgery nose procedure, you're likely to have swelling and bruising around your nose and eyes. This will peak and begin to decrease after the second or third day. Most of the swelling will subside after the first week or two. And it's also common to experience some nasal stuffiness, particularly if you've had surgery on the septum.
The cosmetic surgeon should be well trained and the patient should follow the doctor's instructions and advice. Nose surgery just as any surgery has some risk maybe from unusual complications is but it's usually a safe procedure when performed by a qualified cosmetic surgeon.
