Back when my grandparents were kids, they'd eat all sorts of greasy foods and even take a roll and swab the grease up and eat it...never had health problems but now days I wonder if its what gets put in food that is killing people...

any thoughts, opinions?

it is an overall change in food in general. higher fat and sugar content then ever before. also people are way WAY less active in general now and sit in front of computers all day or the TV when many many generations of people had no TV or computers and actually went outside and played and were active.

there was no computer before 20-30 years ago. before that there was no Tv at all. so every one was more active in the past. there was nothing else to do.

I don't think food has much changed, it's the way that society has changed over the years, that has affected people's lifestyles and behaviours on eating in general. For instances, the phases of Industrialisation and influences of commercialism led to new ways of adjusting to food. The Standardisation of products such as Mcdonalds, Burger King, Master Chef and so on, led to the mass increase of food Internationally being forced into peoples lifes.

From then the habits of fast and processed food became a way of life so much, that companies decided to implement instant food packages to better the situation, and allow for more money to come in. People in-between, started forgetting about themselfs, and what nutrition is really about, therefore opted for fat oily foods, following their acquainted mental tastes, based on what the food looked like. In addition their natural taste, vanished for nutrional ingredients and food, as they got so carried away with eating fatty foods, and packaged meals, that habit took over.

During the tough periods in History, and through the War that's where people learnt how to eat properly, with few rashions and supplement ingredients. Today, is a perfect example of a society going downhill. It's no ones fault, it's just how society has developed. A perfect example, of what is yet to come.

well the food HAS changed. there is way more fast food available, processed food for microwaves, and just more ways to get the food then in the past (better transportation, etc)

It hasn't really, it's the processes and lifestyles that have changed, to make the image of food the way it is. Additional forms of food technology have been created, for the daily usage of microwaves and the likes of other techonology. This type of food, is not real, its a mirage of changes and advancements in society.

The answer to this question is obvious, it lies in the creators who invented modernism, and not so much the food itself, as it has always been there. Patterns and conditions have created this type of mentality, and have conjured up a fake idealism of what food isn't made up to be.

I understand all of that, and that side of the discussion has merit, but there is no way to discount that 100-150 years ago people ate cattle and animals they kept, and vegetables they grew. There was no McDonalds, Wendy's or fried foods similar to what we have today. There were no Chinese buffets or Mexican restaurants on every corner. In addition there was none of the chemicals that are now used in the growing of just about everything, animal or vegetable. These things did not exist because the technology did not exist.

You've pretty much explained my point, and reversed your own understanding of what you thought you were trying to explain through food. I placed emphasis on the ongoing changes throughout the development of society throughout the years, to demonstrate the answer.
