Not a present fact to acknowledge, but the fact of the matter is that African Americans appear to have many more health problems than other ethic groups in US. A new study suggests yet another problem; a lack of safe and affordable recreation and too much time spent watching television increase the risk of obesity for young black girls in the United States. Bill Cosby is getting a lot of attention lately by being outspoken and addressing number of problems that African American communities have and he is talking about issues like this; while his language is rather strong, many agree with what Bill Cosby says and acknowledge problems that Bill Cosby points out. Many might disagree, but I'd like to mention it in this forum, as the topic is getting some attention lately.

Hmmm.....

Traffic, a lack of sidewalks, poor recreational facilities, unrestrained dogs and an unwillingness to let their children play outside unsupervised were the reasons cited by mothers and grandmothers as to why they felt their neighborhoods were unsafe or unsuitable for children to play outside.

This is Granny's opinion but I doubt very much whether the kids would go along with that! Traffic? Unrestrained dogs?? Shocked Let them get a pair of roller blades on & get on with it! I never had 'recreational facilities' at all when I was a kid, and I never stopped all day long!

Let's face it, and I'm not being racist in any way here, African-American (and African-British for that matter) women have a different physical build to white women. It's just a fact. They tend to have larger breasts & larger bums & often mature much earlier than white girls. Sitting in front of the telly all day is not just a black problem. Could diet have anything to do with it?

In Africa, female rotundity is not considered a drawback to health or beauty as it is in the west.

I heard about this before and there might be some cultural difference. This particular article does not provide statistics, so if I find some article that provides statistics, then I will reference it later.
